Jordan’s love of motor racing was developed while he was still very young by joining his dad, Harry to regularly watch formula 1 races on television. A flare for racing was eventually realized when Jordan’s parents bought a 100B kart when he was eleven years old. Harry and Jordan tinkered with the kart as the years passed with (initially) no intention of serious racing...
The inevitable ‘first race’ came in late 1999 with Jordan driving an old 100cc Junior TKM kart. The experience culminated with Jordan a surprise 3rd on the grid for the B-final of what was the final round of that year’s Scottish Super Series Championship. Numerous ‘best novice’ awards followed in 1999 and the year ended on a high with Jordan being awarded the 1999 Most Promising Driver trophy from Grampian Kart Club.
After gaining further experience in the Junior TKM class in 2000, Jordan and Harry moved to the new 125cc Senior Rotax class in 2001. The pair immediately shone, with Jordan taking 5th place in the Scottish Championships, finishing 4th in the Super Series and winning the GKC Club Championship.
From 2002 to 2006, Jordan went on to win three more GKC Club championships, the 2004 NKRA National Championship and the 2006 British Northern Clubman Championship. Podium finishes were also to be had in both the Scottish Championships and the Super Series. Jordan was selected to drive for the Scottish National Kart Team in both 2005 and 2006, helping the team achieve Scotland’s first ever victory in 2005.
In 2005, Jordan was awarded the ultimate honor to be bestowed on any Scottish kart driver by the sports’ National Body, the Association of Scottish Kart Clubs as he was selected for the Most Promising Young Scottish Driver prize.
In late 2006, Jordan won the AJF Motorsport Scholarship which led to competition in the smartycars.com Scottish Mini Cooper Cup with the If Motorsport team during the 2007 season, where Jordan developed his abilities quickly to the mini cooper style. An impressive debut season was rewarded with a podium finish in the penultimate round and 4th place in the Newcomers’ Cup despite missing five rounds due to mechanical problems.
2008 saw Jordan and Harry re-form their solo racing team in the Scottish Mini Cooper Championship. Despite bad luck marring the team’s undeniable pace throughout the season, the year was an overall success as Jordan took his maiden car racing win at the Croft Circuit in Yorkshire on the 18th of May.
For 2009, the team look to build upon the foundations laid in ‘08 and secure further podiums and wins in the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup.
