It was a cold, damp and foggy sight that greeted us at Knockhill for the first pre-season testing day of 2018. Moving the test to it's earliest ever date obviously didn't do the weather any favours!
Jordan's early morning track-walk proved very useful as the newly resurfaced Knockhill looks ever-so-slightly different from the one we waved goodbye to last October.
It's always a fantastic experience getting back on-track again after a winter away and when the car fired-up for the first time and the visor went down, the usual butterflies reassured us that nothing in the atmosphere could dampen our mood.
The day itself was mainly a shakedown exercise, with the job list consisting of systems checks and reliability/consistency work rather than performance focus. We ran through our programme extremely quickly and smoothly, completing everything before the day was over and meaning we didn't even have to take part in all sessions. An early finish and trip back to base for a heat-up was very welcome considering the temperature and constant drizzle and sleet at the track!
Overall, we were delighted with the car and how the day went. Next stop in 2018 is the second and final pre-season test on March the 18th. Talk to you from there!
